Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about offline billing, data, hardware and everything else owners ask us.

Nothing stops. Billing, printing invoices and receipts (and kitchen KOTs, in restaurants), stock deduction and reports all continue at the counter. Every sale is saved to a safe local queue. When the internet returns, the sales upload automatically — no duplicates, no manual work. This is the core reason businesses choose BillMad.
On your own server — the machine you install BillMad on, inside your premises. We store nothing centrally except a secure sync copy (on Premium and above) that powers your owner report portal. You are never locked into someone else's cloud for the software your shop runs on.
Yes. Every plan gets a daily encrypted backup on your own server with easy one-click restore. Premium and above also push a backup to the BillMad cloud, so a stolen or dead server is not a data-loss event.
A small always-on machine for the BillMad server (a regular PC, mini PC, or used desktop works fine), a monitor for billing, and standard thermal/any printers work via the driver or directly. A basic UPS or inverter keeps everything running through power cuts. We help you pick during onboarding.
Yes. BillMad generates GST-compliant invoices with your GSTIN, handles taxes correctly, and the reports module reconciles your sales against GST returns (including 2A/2B matching on supported plans).
Usually yes. We help migrate your item master, opening stock and current balances. Most shops are up and running in under a day. Because everything runs on your machine, there's no “cut-over” dependency on transfers between clouds.
You pay per site per quarter (INR, plus GST). Billing, renewals and license keys are handled through your BillMad account — get in touch via the contact page and we’ll set you up.
Any business with a counter and a team — restaurants and cafés, hotels and lodgings, boutiques and retail stores, kirana and grocery shops, pharmacies, salons and services, clinics, event venues and banquets, and multi-outlet businesses. Billing, ERP and HRMS modules switch on per plan, and add-ons (Boutique/Retail, Events & Banquets) are available on any plan.
Because it lives on your server, it stays on your server. You can export your data at any time — you are never locked in, and there is nothing “held hostage” in a cloud you have to pay to reach.
Cloud POS needs the internet for every single action — one weak signal and the counter freezes. BillMad treats the internet as optional: it's used for backup/sync, never required for billing. That small difference is the difference between “works in my area” and “doesn't work in my area.”
